Screenplay Writing Software

A screenplay software that speaks?

Somebody mentioned to me one time a new feature in some screenplay software is a thing that will read the screenplay out loud to you and let you adjust voices for different characters. Anybody know which programs do this, and how to access this feature when you have the right program?

  1. Been around a long time. I use Final Draft (an old version - 4 I think) and it's got that tool. Others probably do too. In FD just go to "tools > speech control" or "tools > assign voices". You can assign each character (and the narrator) a male or female voice and then tweak the pitch so you have a few different males or females.
  2. It's standard in FD. And it's fine if you want Zombies to read your script. However, you can assign voices to the characters in FD and then it's just a matter of pressing play in the proper subroutine. All clearly explained in the online manual.
