Screenplay Writing Software

i wrote a screenplay, but its not in proper format, do you think film makers will still look at it?

i also DONT have screenwriting software, nor do i plan on buying some, also it would be a pain to go through it all and put it in proper format, because of the fact its so long.

  1. I cant tell you for sure because I dont know for sure, but I bet these guys have numerous screenplays to look through, and it's just like sending in a resume for a job--they basically take a quick glance and if they dont like what they see, into the trash it goes. If you are really serious about being a screenplay writer, you may want to invest in the software to make yourself more marketable.
  2. Nope, because if it's not in a professional format, they will assume you are not professional to work with. First appearances count!
  3. They will not look at it. A screen play when formatted correctly will be one minute of time for one page. This is how the industry knows about how long your movie would be. If it is not formatted the way they want they will throw it out, and why not they only get like 2,000 screenplays a day, and most are not worth the paper they are written on. But they are all formatted correctly . You want to play in the game you have to learn and play by the rules. sorry dude, no shortcuts.
  4. People in the industry are not likely to want to read your screenplay. The film industry has expected formats to make things easier on the professionals. You might stand a slim, slim chance that somebody would read your screenplay, if they found the concept interesting. But I believe that they say the chances of getting your script make into a movie are like ten-thousand to one. And I would say that with your unwillingness to put it in proper format, you've probably made the odds that your script will ever be made one-million to one.
  5. No..... I believe someone else said this same thing and they are 100% correct....... no because they will look at it and see you are not a pro... it will get tossed... another way to help it get tossed is to draw some neat pictures on it, or maybe give your opinion on camera angles..... put it this way,, if you put the wrong brades in,, it could be tossed..... realize this,,,, they read 50 a week, and 10-14 over some weekeneds......they are looking for a GREAT reason NOT to read your material..... in doing that, you are making that real easy for them.
