Is there a software for writing a TV Sitcom that is fill-in? I have an idea for a TV series and am ready to turn it into something for a TV Exec. Many times people will refer to the 'formula' for writing a screenplay and bring up as example that boy needs to leave girl by page 12 so that there can be a happy ending on page 15. Is there really such a software? If not, what software would you recommend as the best for writing a TV sitcom that serves up a slice of team drama?

What is the best literature to aid in writing a screenplay or movie script? I have an idea for what I would like to see as a movie... Yeah, I know... Fat chance... But I would really like to write a script for it and be able to present it in prefessional form. My history in writing is limited to poetry, songs and what writing I was required to do in school. So I am completely in the dark when it comes to writing a script or screenplay (see... for all I know, a script and a screenplay are the same thing). But I am aware that there is some kind of standard blueprint for how to write a script properly (ie: fonts, spacing, etc...). I am also aware that there are certain terms and lingo used in a professionally written script that the average Joe (me) are dumb to. So can anybody tell me a good resource for learning a good script outline and familiarizing myself with the lingo? I saw "Screenwriting for Dummies" on ebay and several other books and computer software. I'm not looking to jump into this blind and start writing before I can really delve deep into understanding how to properly write, package and present a script. So any help would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks guys.
Do I Need Screenwriting Software? I'm writing my first screenplay, do I need to buy a software so it looks ligit or does Microsoft word work just as good. If so, how do I type it out so its layed out like a normal screenplay should be?
Any tips on writing scripts and screenplays? I'd like to be able to send off scripts for TV shows, and screenplays to professional companies, but I don't really know how they should be set out. Do you need special software, or can they be set up in word? Also, any tips on the sort of style stage directions and descriptions of characters and scenes are written in? Do they tend to be written sparingly, leaving most of it to the director etc, or is it ok to go more creative with the language?
When writing a screenplay, how and/or where do I write character background info? How often is "cut to" used? When I'm thinking like the camera and maybe want to focus briefly on one object, then move on to another scene quickly. When or what are suitable situations to use "cut to"? This is my first screenplay and I'm trying to do it as professionally as possible without the use of software. I'm a full - time writer and artist and can't afford to buy software now. Also, do most characters, even minor ones, have their name or description in Capital letters ? For example....the gas station attendant ? or, the GAS STATION ATTENDANT ? Thank you for any and all help.

Anyone familiar with Sims2/movie maker software? Help me out!? Hi. I've been learning how to use Sims2/moviemaker software recently. I'm using it to create storyboards for a screenplay I'm writing because I have almost no technical skill as an artist. Here's some difficulty I've encountered: the story takes place in 1978 and I'm having trouble finding clothing, decor, automobiles, hairstyles for the characters that reflect that time period. Anyone familiar with movie maker have any advice or suggestions concerning links or sites where I could download retro/period stuff? Thank you.

Filming tips, on a screenplay, ANGLES, LIGHTING, ECT...? Hey! I am in 10th grade and currently writing, directing, and producing a short film. It will range between 25-30 minutes. I have the script completed and am looking forward to filming this baby, but need some help. I want this thing to look as professional as I can make it. I have some video editing software, it isn't Final Cut Pro, but it gets special effects and the like done. I was wondering if anyone had any sites or tips that they would advise me to follow when filming this. I've already looked around on the internet and read a lot of good advice I wouldn't have thought of, such as using external mics, headphones in the camcorder, and 3 pt lighting. I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to this filiming. Any advice for this thing would be appreciated. The script, I think, came out great. I've gotten some advice from friends, and I reworked it so it's a real thriller. There will be a foot chase/ car chase

What is the price? Do I need any special software or is Windows Movie Maker sufficent? Anything else I should know before heading out to make my home movie? Doing mostly essay-based subjects at college, do you think I could still be a music video director? I would love to be a music video director/ producer in the future, so I intend to study Screen Arts at Uni in 2010.However, I can't help but think I wont have as much experience as other people .....I'm studying English Combined (doing well but its essay based so I doubt this would help me), Sociology (again, it is essay based) and Film studies (which I like but all I have done is the theory side of things and no practical or visual work.). When I went for a Uni interview, they seemed interested in my screenplays but were shocked that I didn't have any visual work to show them. Really regretting my subject choices, but theres nothing I can do about that now :( Other people who want to go into film have done Photography and Graphics! I just get the feeling that I wont be able to understand the software etc and that everyone else will have more experience and will be better than me.....Yet I love music videos and want to prove I can do other things than just writing essays! Do you think I could still do well at Uni, and possibly have a career in this??

I Need a Bare-Bones Introduction to Film Making.? I want to write and direct a short, twenty-minute film based on the old Smithereens' song "Beauty and Sadness." However, I have absolutely NO experience in film. NONE. At some point, I'm going to enroll in classes at the Vancouver (BC) film school and really learn this craft. However, for the time being, I need you experienced film makers/students to recommend an introduction to film-making TEXTBOOK for the utterly uninitiated. I know nothing about the craft of film: square one here. This piece isn't going to be a bland, realist documentary, it's more of an art film, so I'm going to need information on equipment (i.e., cameras), editing, sound, color, etc. Any advice you could offer me would be very much appreciated. Be as explicit and lengthy as possible. Here are some other questions: 1. What is a good "first" camera for fledgling film makers? 2. I want to use TECHNICOLOR for my Smithereens video. How impossible is that going to be (there's a part of the film that is set in a kind of late-1960s, Monkees-inspired, technicolor world)? Is there software out there that allows one to easily implement technicolor? 3. For those of you who attended film school, is there a "screenwriter's bible" out there that your professors would recommend -- the sacred cannon text for writers of screenplays that sets the standard for scriptwriters? Let me know. Thanks for all your help. Arpita, you suck.
